Hi coaches! My name is Reagan Barzyk and you won't find anyone that has the love for the game of volleyball like I do. I started playing volleyball when I was 9 at the YMCA and then quickly moved to the Friday night leagues for more competitive volleyball. Which then led me to playing club volleyball at the age of 11. Through this progression, I have turned into a hard working athlete and determined teammate. I am always wanting to get better and to play at the next level. I played JV my freshman year and then again sophomore year due to the upperclassmen in my position. I took the opportunity sophomore year to be the leader on the JV team and mentor the freshmen not only on the court, but off the court to help them transition to their first year of high school.
To start off my 17's season my coach asked me to help the team by moving to setter. As a team captain, I accepted that challenge and worked as hard as possible through private lessons where I asked my teammates to join me to help solidify myself in my new position as well as helping my teammates out. The hard work paid off as we got our bid at our first tournament of our club season. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus cut our season short and we weren't able to see how far we could go. Losing most of my 17's season due to the Coronavirus motivated me to come back to progress to play at the next level.
I work on my academics just as hard as I work in the game of volleyball. I met my goal of becoming a member of the National Honors Society. My goal in college is to study to become a teacher and possibly coach my own volleyball team. Lastly you might find that I'm a quiet person off the court but when I step on the court whether it's practice or game time I motivate my teammates and always have a positive attitude.
