I have been playing court volleyball competitively since the age of 11. I absolutely love being on the court with my team and then I decided to branch out and I added beach volleyball three years ago. I now have a passion for beach ball also. Volleyball is my happy place.
For the 2019 season, as a high school Freshman, I played on the varsity level. It was an exciting year because I had the experience of going to the state tournament and playing in the championship match. Even though we did not bring home a state title coming out 2nd in the state of Texas in Division 4A is something we as a team are proud of. We were not the top chosen team to be there, but I learned hard work does pay off. During my first season on varsity I learned that everyone has their role on the team and being a good teammate is vital to our overall success.
When schools closed for on campus learning in March of 2020 due to COVID my parents and I knew I needed to remain active and focus on my physical skills and strength. For these months away from the school and club gym I was fortunate to work with a strength and conditioning trainer and I will work with him again this summer. The time spent focusing on my physical growth was an asset as we started back school workouts in August 2020.
During this 2020 season we advanced to the Regional Semifinals. This year was just as exciting as the 2019 season first of all because we got to play! With COVID impacting everyone and everything it was a blessing to complete a full season. Even though we did not make a return to the state championship as a team we had a phenomenal year and I personally found greater confidence in my position as an outside hitter improving my kills average through the season resulting in the honor as being selected for First Team All District for Division 3-4A.
Outside of school ball I also play club volleyball and beach volleyball with Amarillo Xtreme. I have been playing club ball since age 11 and beach ball since age 13. Beach volleyball has been an exciting adventure. My partner and I have won bids to Nationals all three years that we have played.
