Throughout my high school career, I have grown more than I ever thought possible within a three-year time span. As a freshman, I was very shy and very doubtful of my athletic abilities, despite being told millions of times that I was capable of greatness. Sophomore year, however, brought growth and development of my abilities as I worked hard to prove that I was, in fact, great. My coach had known from the start, that, although it would take a while, I would be the athlete I was meant to be.
In 2019, I walked in front of my community to receive my award, Most Athletic Female, an award typically reserved for seniors, as a junior! The following year, I was given the award once again. Junior year, I was finally living up to my potential. I had been on the court at all times, setting my hitters up to the best of my abilities, with confidence on the floor - subconsciously becoming a leader that was not harsh, but, rather influential, with a leadership of which sunk into the core of myself and my teammates - leadership based on hope, passion, and teamwork.
I have been fortunate enough to have been playoff-bound all four years of high school, and that feeling is one that I will never forget. Mentally, I have always had an open mind and coachable attitude, which is why I believe I have the strength and talent to do whatever I, or my leader, set mind to. Throughout my volleyball career, I have learned that I do not have to be simply mediocre in life, rather, I can work hard to become great. I have growth to accomplish with both my setting abilities and, of course, like all people truly, my mental game, which I believe playing on a college level team will help me with. I have always had a passion for this sport, since playing YMCA volleyball starting at eight years old. My passion has flourished as I have aged, and I have come to the decision that I never want to have a “last game”. I believe that playing at the college level will help me enforce that desire, and play with all of my heart, at all times, and help my teammates shine as bright as they're meant to be.
