Kamryn Allen '22 Recruiting Profile

I am very passionate about volleyball and I am equally passionate about academics. I am a student-athlete and I have always made sure that I focused on grades just as much as sports.  I will surely continue to do that as I enter college.  As a student-athlete I’ve learned how to prioritize and manage my time which is important to achieving my goals.  This balance has helped me learn how to have a system in all aspects of my life.

My primary position is middle and right side hitter on my high school and club teams.  I am quick, athletic and powerful.   While I'm very confident in my athleticism and skills as a middle and outside hitter, I also have good defensive skills and experience playing back row. I  have a knack for getting to loose balls and making hustle plays when my teammates need it most.  When I’m on the court, it is all about playing my hardest and helping my team succeed.  Whatever my team needs me to do, I will happily do!

Every year I continue to learn and develop new skills to improve my play.  One of my coaches would always say when it comes to hitting “read the court so you know when to crush, pressure, or extend the play”.   I’ve learned how to redirect my shots and make better plays based on the opposing defense. I am very determined and hardworking.   I will always give 100% in practice and try to better my skills.

Why do I love volleyball?  It’s a team sport and achieving a goal with a team has always been a love of mine.  I know how to work well with other people and really make a team come together.  My coaches, teachers and friends tell me that I am a natural leader.  I have good communication skills and I assist my teammates when they don’t know how to communicate with each other or the coach.   They will come to me with issues and I will help them figure things out.  I am mentally tough, and I handle difficult situations well.
