Hi, Coach,
My name is Ashley Pearson and I thank you for taking time to review my profile. My work ethic, personality, leadership abilities, sportsmanship, coachable attitude, and versatility on the court sets me apart from my peers.
Coming from a dual military family, I've moved around, dealt with deployments, and learned to keep on going when the going gets tough. I've learned how to deal with different people, adjust to change, and keep pushing when the going gets tough. I work hard on the court and at school; am the one who is known as a great teammate (I'm currently Team Captain of my 2019 Varsity Team; and my 2018 Varsity Team voted and selected me to receive the “Team Choice” Award which is a Leadership/Teammate Award) who motivates/encourages them when they need to be picked up; apply advice coaches give me; and always want to improve (I sought out a strength and conditioning program on my own and do that three times a week on top of practice; and am taking private lessons to improve). Coaches tell me they like me because of those traits; and because I'm versatile on the court. I've learned to play outside, right side, and middle positions well.
My life experiences have taught me to be a better performer on the court. I realize hard work pays off and I like challenging myself to learn different things (whether it be on the volleyball court, in the classroom, or in life). I am taking a heavy course load so I can maintain my competitive edge academically; and I also participate in other activities to round my out physically, mentally, and emotionally. I swim and dive on the Varsity Team and on a team with the Northern Virginia Swim League; I have earned numerous accolades through those activities including coaches award and athlete of the week. I also have been invited to coach my summer team; I was assistant to the head youth coach last summer and coach year round at an indoor pool on Sunday nights. I started coaching youth volleyball spring; and also lifeguard and volunteer my time with the Girl Scouts and my church.
My goals are to play volleyball in college while studying to be an oncologist, dermatologist, or lawyer. I'd like to be a part of a volleyball program that is strong, cohesive, and will teach me to be a better player; and that will value my traits including a friendly, positive, winning attitude and goal oriented (on the court and in the class-room). I believe I will be an outstanding candidate for your team.
