Sports have been at the center of my life since I could roll a ball across the floor. Beyond being a Third-Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo (with KKW certifications), I played soccer for 10 years. I currently play volleyball for my varsity high school team and at the club level.
While the outside is where I typically find myself, I have worked hard to diversify and have become a 6-position player. I have regularly taken advantage of additional training opportunities (playing with my club's 18s team, attending extra setting /DS training, etc.) and have volunteered to coach middle school clinics. Coaching certainly has its rewards and has given me a different perspective of the game.
Of course, volleyball is not my only passion. In hopes of becoming an Orthodontist, I have set up volunteer and shadow opportunities in my community. My other interests include traveling, hiking, kayaking, photography, and music.
Giving back to the community has become important to me. I enjoy volunteering at church food drives, wrapping gifts for Toys for Tots, singing Christmas carols at senior living facilities, helping to stock shelves at Mobile Hope (to support homeless youth), or supporting fundraising efforts for Dig Pink. It is wonderful how people can come together to support one another.
