My name is Shelby VanHoven and I am a right-handed outside and right side hitter. I am entering my sophomore year at United Christian Academy in Standardsville, VA. I play for a rec-league in Culpeper and will be starting my first year of club this season.
I started playing volleyball in seventh grade. We had a small team so it was only a club. I started to grow more interested in volleyball and began playing more often. I joined a rec team and played as a DS. My coaches encouraged me to play a right-side/ outside and a DS. I started to love playing and going into high school and I was excited to learn more.
I played as the outside hitter for school and became more confident. That year I also played rec and I was the setter. I gained experience with both a 5-1 and 6-2.
I am dedicated to push myself in becoming better in any position I am put. Playing rec and 2 sports at the school, I have learned the commitment it takes to be a great athlete. I also have maintained high levels of performance on the court and in the classroom. I am excited to see the opportunitlies God will put in my life.
