I was exposed to volleyball in the 5th grade when all my friends decided to play for our middle school team. I decided to tag along with all my friends and towards the end of the season‚ I fell in love with volleyball. Throughout the years of playing volleyball‚ I have learned to have a mind of positivity and reject all the negative impacts around my life when playing the sport. Volleyball allows me to be more competitive with myself in competing against other talented athletes. I evaluate my weaknesses and turn them into strengths.
The begining of freshman year I had a huge obstacle that I had to overcome. My serving wasn't the strongest. I went through the process of tryouts just like everybody else then the coaches called my name to come back with them. This was a very stressful time for me and they told me I didn't make the team because my serving wasn't strong enough. Ever since then I spent hours outside my house working on my serving. Now my serves go over the net consistently and I am currently learning how to jump serve.
My future college goals is entering a university and being successful in the nursing programs. My grandma influenced me to become a nurse because in her time‚ women weren't as popular in the nursing field and she became one of the very few nurses in the state at the time. She has influenced me to never give up and to not let negative feedback impact how I play today in volleyball.
