Personal Statement

My name is Ashlynn Fisher and I am a 2023 5'6" Libero.  Volleyball has been a passion of mine and I have known that I wanted to play in college since I was 9 years old. All of my coaches say that I am very coachable and a good teammate who is always excited to play with and encourage others. I am willing to work hard and always strive to be the best player I can be for my team. Not only am I willing to work hard at volleyball, but I am also willing to work hard at my academics. I will continue to strive to get good grades, while also balancing a healthy relationship with my team, family, and friends around me.

  • Evaluated at Showcase Camp - Washington D.C. Volleyball on 07/17/2021 by Coach Slaughter of University of Maryland Eastern Shore Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 92 / 100 Passing - Creates opportunities for teammates with accurate passes. Rarely over passes or shanks/miss contacts the ball. Defense - Aggressive as a defender. Good read on the attack and defensive positioning, and seems to enjoy making the play. Tactical Abilities - 89 / 100 Speed Of Thought - Has good ideas and tries to play fast. This will only help future growth. Defensive Awareness - Understands defensive systems and strategy, shows understanding of positioning and angles. Physical Abilities - 92 / 100 Speed - Great speed overall, in particular with footwork to get into position. Will be an important asset going forward. Balance - Seemed to handle the challenges you faced well. Good job staying in your position and helping teammates where needed. Mental Abilities - 95 / 100 Leadership - Excellent job taking charge and leading the team. Great communicator and motivator. Confidence - Great confidence, didn’t shy away when challenged at camp and played with a sense of urgency. Coach's Comments Great attitude and a pleasure to work with at camp. She had one of the best platforms at the camp, nice solid and strong. Her work ethic and hustle stand out. As a 2023 grad, she still has time to develop mentally and physically and has potential to become a college level libero. As a libero, you're going to have to be comfortable controlling the back row. That means calling every ball, talking to your hitters on whats open and talking through serve receive. understanding and watching the other team gives you hints on where to be. The more you read the game and understand whats probably going to happen, the more likely you are to be in a good defensive spot to play the ball. After you set/your hitter gets set, get under there and cover while watching the block
