I have been playing volleyball since 6th grade in middle school. I found love for the sport almost instantly. Unfortunately, when COVID took over, I lost half of my 7th grade and all of my 8th grade year. I thought for sure I would never be able to play again. My freshman year we were able to play. I came out as a "swinger" for JV and varsity but played most varsity. I practiced hard throughout the season and came out as a starter in my sophomore year. I switched positions from outside hitter to middle hitter in the middle of the season, the change was hard to adjust to. I failed at many things for the middle position but never gave up until I got the hang of it. In my junior year, I was nominated team captain by the rest of the team and was a starter as a middle hitter. Mid-season I suffered an injury, I sprained both of my thumbs at the same time. I was out for a week and a half and during that time, I realized how much volleyball meant to me after having to sit on the sidelines cheering on my team.
