From seventh grade to my freshman year of high school, I was a setter. When I began my 15s club season, my coach began to morph me into more of a back-row player than a setter. At the time, I was apprehensive to make such a seemingly drastic change. However, before I knew it, I had found a new love, even greater than the one I had for setting. Through hard work, a passion for the new position, and complete motivation, I became a highly respectable back row player. Consequently, my sophomore year, I was named starting libero on the JV team after only playing the position for slightly less than a year. In that same season, I was pulled up to join the varsity team as they started post-season. Following that same high school season, I was asked to play up an age level on a 17-1s team as a back row player for club. This past high school season, I played all 133 sets as the starting libero on the #1-ranked team in the state of Wisconsin. Currently, I am once again on the #1 ranked team in the state of Wisconsin, taking the starting libero role, where we are searching to acquire our school's first Division 1 state championship this upcoming week. There were days I thought the accomplishments I have attained may only be a dream, but with hard work and an unrelenting sense of passion for the game I love, I morphed into a volleyball player I am proud to be today.
I believe based upon my strong work ethic both in volleyball and in the classroom, I am a very viable candidate for playing at a strong collegiate program. I apply myself in the classroom, achieving a 4.0 GPA under a heavy course load, and strive to continue to further myself academically. I would like to attain an undergraduate degree in finance, and then pursue a law degree. Likewise, I am absolutely dedicated to volleyball. I give my whole heart to my team every time I step on the court, and I am always striving to pursue greatness. The high expectations I hold myself to every time I step on the court is a factor I believe sets me apart from many other volleyball players. I maintain an open mindset, which allows me to be highly coachable. My aspirations for the future are great, but I believe with the help of my parents and coaches, I can achieve the dream of playing collegiate volleyball.
