I've been in competitive sports since I was very young. I started as a swimmer, and was a state finalist in many events and disciplines over the years. For the last three years, my focus has shifted to volleyball, progressing from a non-competitive league to a national-level club team and high school JV team (as one of only two Freshman). At the beginning of my sophomore year, I got placed on JV again, but I practiced with Varsity and was moved up at the end of my sophomore volleyball season. I've also played beach volleyball over the summer with Madison Elite, and several camps in California (my team placed 2nd at a camp in Malibu, CA). I would like to find a college that combines academic excellence with a supportive athletic environment. My teammates would describe me as hardworking, energetic and focused on team success and having fun. I've had coaches tell me that I am coachable and show improvement frequently.
As a high school sophomore, I am drawn to many different academic opportunities. I'm interested in a number of key events and periods of U.S. History (civil rights, suffrage movements, constitutional law). I also love studying foreign languages and cultures, such as Spanish (Mexico) and Korean (South). I have many hobbies and interests that I may want to pursue further after high school. For example, I love to draw, write and create many forms of art; video edits, photography, etc., as well as music; I've been playing percussion since I was eight years old, piano since I was five, and bass guitar since I was 11. My high school band teacher says I have great rhythm and potential. I am unsure if music will be a life commitment in terms of occupation or major, but it is a joy of mine, as well as producing and songwriting, which I hope to learn more about. I also take part in a Mock Trial club at my high school, and have been interested in law for a while now. My dad is a lawyer, and I have researched many court cases and topics relating to law. I'm sure my interests will continue to evolve during high school, and in not too long I will be pretty sure what I want to further my knowledge on in the so-called 'real-world'.
In short, I hope to go to a college with strong academics where I can pursue my passion for volleyball!
