Personal Statement

My name is Daniella Jiron, I’ve been playing water polo since I was 6 and I’m still improving. I’m very competitive and have a high drive as well as passion for the sport. I‘m involved with the student body on campus, being that I’ve been in ASB for 4 years, and I’ve also kept up with my academics. This entire year I’ve maintained a 4.0 and plan on keeping it that way. I was awarded 1st Team All-League my freshman year, All-League Offensive player of the year my sophmore year, and All League MVP my junior and senior year. I’m a good listener and I take directions along with critiques well.

Status update: This fall I will be attending my 2nd year of college at Golden West. I was a team member of Water Polo and Swim team my freshman year and continuing this year. I made Team Captain for the 2023 Water Polo season. I plan on inspiring and positively building up my team this year.

Start of 2019-20 school year swim season. Daniella on Varsity team. First meet for the season and Daniella's 200 yd Medley Relay team made a CIF time of 2:14.47. Three seconds faster than their best overall time last school year. 50yd breaststroke :40.08, 100yd breaststroke 1:29.84.

We played La Habra and took a 20-9 loss. Daniella's team played well for being up against a team that has played 118 games compared to her team with 8 games for the season. Daniella had all 9 goals, 3 steals, 15 shots, 1 ejection, and 3 goalie saves. Daniella has done an amazing job with her young, inexperienced team. She wasn't sure how well they would do or how good her senior year would be, but she pulled off 1st Place in League and taking the League Champions title 3rd year in a row and going to 2nd Round CIF. She's an outstanding Captain and player.

Daniella only had her 100yd breaststroke individual event today. She finished 1st out of 24 and acquired a faster CIF Auto time of 1:18.17. She will advance to finals on 4/29 for her individual event and for her 3 relay teams.

Took 3rd in the Medley Relay and got a lower CIF time. Took 4th in the 200yd & 400yd Freestyle relays. She also was awarded All League Female Swim MVP 2022.

Loara vs La Quinta
Tonight we took a 6-19 loss against La Quinta. We finished League in a 1st place tie with La Quinta. LQ kept 2-3 players on Daniella the entire game. Even when placed in goal in the 3rd period the LQ coach instructed the players to attack Daniella as soon as she reached the half. Daniella did all that she could do with her young team to guide them and motivate them to keep going for that win. She took quite a physical beating from LQ tonight. Very proud of my Captain

Loara vs Bolsa HS League game
Today was another intense League game. We took a 20-5 victory over Bolsa making our League standings 3-0. It was Senior Day & our last home game & as Captain, Daniella tried to get every team player to score. She was on the field for the first 3 periods directing everyone where to go and passing them the balls. We were awarded a 5m and she gave the opportunity to a freshman and stayed next to her instructing her and encouraging her on what to do. The whistle blew and Arya made the goal. 4th period Daniella was placed in goal, the goalie went on the field, then Daniella instructed her where to swim, she gave her the perfect pass and our goalie scored a goal. Ten girls were rostered to play, all 10 played and 8 girls got 1 or more goals that day and for some, it was their first goal for the season. Daniella had 9 goals, 9 additional shots, 6 assists, 5 steals and 5 goalie saves. After this game gives Daniella a total of 62 goals out of 7 games.

Loara took a 7-15 loss today. Daniella became a marked player during the 2nd period. Santa Fe made a point to always have 2-3 players on her and tried to foul her out of the game. Despite their screaming at her, Daniella kept her composure and managed to get them fouled out instead. Her team however was unable to focus on being ready for her passes with her defending and fighting off multiple players. Daniella's STATs for today are 5 goals, 15 additional shots, and 3 steals.

We tied at the end of the 4th period with a score of 12-12 and went into 2 - 3:00 minute OT periods and won 17-14. Daniella had 12 of the 17 goals, 11 additional shots, 2 assists and 8 steals. She managed to keep her team calm, focused and pushing hard to seal the win.

Today was our League opener against Los Amigos. We started the game short 3 players, so we had one sub on the bench. By the fourth period Los Amigos managed to get Jocelyn & April fouled out 3x's and out of the game. In the fourth period, we were playing one player short. She acquired 2 fouls which landed her in the goalie box 4th period. Los Amigos thought this was their opportunity to score and gain a lead. Daniella had 4 goalie saves during her short time in goal. She was placed back on the field with 2:52 remaining on the clock. She scored 2 more goals before the end of the period. Daniella had taken her team to another victory. She managed to keep her team afloat and strong to obtain a 17-13 victory. Daniella scored 15 out of the 17 goals. Total STATs for Daniella this game were 15 goals, 6 additional shots, 1 assist, 6 steals, and 4 goalie saves.
