Hello! My name is Nellie Alissa Arzate and I am a 17 year old Mexican American Water Polo player. My freshman year of High School I was 14, and I wanted to try new things for myself after the pandemic. Water Polo was something that I knew could get me out of my comfort zone and I soon fell in love with it. I cannot go some days without playing Water Polo especially during my off season because it helps me so much with clearing my mind and focusing on something else. Times were very tough my freshman and sophomore year of High School due to unfortunate circumstances. I had recently transferred to Poly High School as a new Junior student to start a new beginning including a new water polo team. But unfortunately, Poly High School was not a good fit for me. The first couple of days at Poly were total distressful. I missed my old teammates, my adapted environment and more than anything the bond and great sportsmanship we had created throughout the years. So without any doubt in my mind I transferred back to Jordan High School. My sport has taught me to advance my socialize skills I love making new friends from different High Schools during games or swim meets. My natural leadership skills have led me to always give advice to my teammates and encourage them at all times. As my season started my junior year I became very dedicated to being my very best every day at practice. I soon became the Water Polo team Captain and awarded the Most Valuable Player, but I could not have reached this level of distinguishment without all the encouragement I get during practice, and outside of practice. Since my Junior year my goal has been to play Water Polo at college level due to the support from my family, teammates, friends and especially Coaches who inspire and motivate me each and everyday. I have 4 years of Water Polo experience, I recently went to practice at LBAF club for extra training after my school practices. I gained incredible knowledge which have contributed to exceling as a Water Polo Goalie. With that being said, to my knowledge I am very hard working, dedicated and coachable athlete with a bright and outgoing personality. I love the Water Polo environment, love making new friends and I enjoy helping any teammate in need, I am enthusiastic about putting in as much hard work and dedication as I can to get into my dream school and play the sport I am very connected and passionate about.
