Selected as 2018 Female Athlete of the Year for Chaparral High School, Temecula, CA.
Education is considered to be my first priority to a strong foundation for my future.
I’ve been focused on taking a variety of science/medical classes in the last 3 years. I’ve been leaning towards the medical fields so I wanted to take advantage of classes being offered to become more familiarly with the subject matter, like Kinesiology, AP Psychology, and Human Anatomy because I’m interested and intrigued by these subjects. I work very hard on my studies and try to do my best.
There is a sense of accomplishment knowing that all your hard work throughout the semester has been acknowledged with solid grades at the end of the semester. No matter what career path I decide to choose, I know I have the confidence and the ability to be successful.
I participate in the Sports Medicine Program titled “High School Sports Medicine Students.” The focus is to assist in the evaluation of sport’s injuries and the recovery plan for the athletes. This is my third year supporting the program and my experience and leadership will play an important role in my life choices. The school only has one Athletic Trainer, so my participation is critical to supporting the program. I have accumulated over 1200 volunteer hours dedicated to supporting the athletic programs on our campus. This program focuses and depends on teamwork to be successful.
During the Winter season, I’m a participant in Varsity Girls Water polo. I’m going into my fourth year playing and I’ve been on the Varsity team as the starting goalie for my third year now. It takes a unique type of individual with a lot of guts, positive attitude and strong leadership skills to help drive the team towards success as the team’s goalie. However, I was never properly trained by any goalie coach and I don't come from a swim background. I've taught myself different techniques to help get myself out of the water and even though I've imported I still have much to learn about being in the cage.
I shifted gears a little this past spring to complete the American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguarding Certification, ARC Water Safety Instructor Course and ARC CPR/AED requirements. I was employed as a Senior Lifeguard for the City of Temecula during the summer of 2017. My responsibilities included supervising patrons in and around the water during open swim, lap swims and swimming lessons. Always evaluating the current situations, identify problems and exercise sound independent judgment within established guidelines; preventing dangerous situations, recognize emergencies and take appropriate actions in a quick and calm manner. I also prepared lesson plans, coordinated and taught learn-to-swim and water safety courses for patrons between the age of 3 -12 years old.
