My name is Avery Buehner and I am excited to begin my collegiate water polo career. I've played water polo on club teams since I was 10 years old and have been fortunate enough to participate in the Olympic Development Program, Junior Olympics, HS water polo, Futures, and many other tournaments. My participation in these events has allowed me to gain essential experience as a player and high level of knowledge about the game. I value hard-work, perseverance, and positivity and use these values to guide me in my water polo growth.
I believe I am a good candidate for your team because not only do I always strive to improve myself and perform at a high level, but I also do anything I can to help my team. My parents have always taught me to be a leader among my friends, community, and team. I do my best to keep keep myself and my team motivated, helping in any way I can to support my teammates and have fun at the same time. I'm always trying to learn more and find what I can do to get better. For example, at the end of last swim season I was not happy with my times, so I reached out to my coach and have been working with her this summer to become faster and stronger (for both swim and polo). I think what makes me happiest is finding success in the results of my hard work.
I just completed by high school season where I average 5 goals per game. My overall stats for the season were 151 goals, 25 assists, 74 steals, and 53 drawn exclusions. I am now looking forward to playing spring water polo, swimming, and preparing for the next Junior Olympics.
