Annika Lindberg '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Annika Lindberg and I’m a 5‘4 attacker graduating with the class of 2023 at John Hersey High School. I started swimming competitively at the age of six and competed in the USA swimming program for four years. When I was ten one of my friends asked me to try water polo with her and I have been hooked on the game ever since. I try to push myself everyday to be the best player I can be. I have participated in a few camps and I am currently practicing with my club team, East Side Water Polo, where I play on the gold travel team. This summer my team competed at JO’s in Dallas, and we placed 4th overall in the 18u gold bracket and 4th out of all the teams from the midwest.

Although my freshman season was very short I was a varsity starter and achieved player of the game. My sophomore season I continued as a varsity starter and helped my team to win both the MidSuburban East League and the overall MidSuburban League championship. My team and I then went on to win sectionals which qualified us for state for the first time in our school’s history. I continued to play as a starter and helped my team place 4th in the state.  I have continued to play with my club team during the off season to best prepare myself to help my high school team make state again. I have been invited to tryout for ODP and hope to get the opportunity to participate in even higher level games in the future. 

When I’m not in the pool I’m coaching swimming and water polo for my park district. I’m very passionate about the sports and I want to inspire kids to love swimming and water polo just like I do!

In my free time I love weight lifting, watching game film, working as a swim instructor/lifeguard, participating in German folk dancing, volunteering as an aide in my schools special education program, and helping to lead my church’s youth group.
