Since freshman year, I've been enrolled in a high school that only offers Honors/AP courses. During my enrollment, I swam on a varsity team since my freshman year and also play club water polo with the Princeton Tigers. I've learned how to manage my time by studying during the hour long drive 4x a week, to and from water polo practice, and also long rides back from swim meets. I've always had to work hard because I've been faced with many obstacles that I was forced to navigate through. Prior to my freshman year, I was hospitalized with a life-threatening illness that took a year from me. My academics and athletics were not my top priority during those difficult times so I spent a lot of time building up myself mentally and physically. After all of the struggling and getting myself back on track, we were hit with the pandemic. The world had stopped just as I had built up momentum so I found any way I could to stay in healthy physical shape as well as keeping my grades up. Our water polo club team closed its indoor pool but then began practices in an outdoor pool. NJ in the winter is not ideal outdoor swimming, but that is what we did and will do again this winter if we are still not back to normal. There were also times my pool was closed so I did many workouts at the lake where my family spends a lot of time. I love the sport - I want to find my water polo family that shares the same dedication and desire to grow in and out of the pool. If you've read this to the end, thank you! Good luck to you and your team!
