Maria Chernishova...Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Maria Chernishova and I’m from Brooklyn NY! I started playing water polo freshman year of HS after being a swimmer my whole life and immediately fell in love with everything about the sport. As cliché as it sounds, one of my biggest sources of happiness is getting into the pool after a long day and shooting balls at a cage, getting all my emotions out. First things first, I consider myself to be an artist—whether it is drawing, making music with my band, or working on my creative writing and poetry. And, for me, water polo is just another art form. I am really passionate about this sport, and I would absolutely love the opportunity to play in college!
