Mackenzie Melcher '22 Recruiting Profile

I began my water polo journey playing splash ball. Ever since the very first practice I gravitated torwards the goal and have loved the sport ever since. I worked very hard to get where I am. I have learned to pass and shoot both left and right handed.

When I got to the varsity level I started to teach others the sport. I help them learn what spots to be in in the pool for the best outcome. These events just recently lead to me join a principles of coaching class at my high school. My athletic as well as academic inspiration came from watching my older sister throughout the years tackle playing a sport as well as succeeding at school.

Furthermore in the goal I also direct teammates in the pool during games by calling out the different numbers of the umbrella to tell them where the ball is at. Even when I play field I always communicate where the ball is and who needs to drive. They can always count on me to bring a spare suit, cap, and googles for anyone who forgets. As a member your team I will contribute and strive to deliver a high level of determination, flexibility, strong communication skills and exemplar performance. I will be an asset at a higher level as a team player who aspires and inspires success in and out of the water.
