2021 HighlightsPersonal Statement
Hi, I am Maxine Horvatova; I am currently a rising Senior at Glenda Dawson High School located in
Pearland, Texas. I have been swimming and playing water polo on the varsity team during my
Freshman, Sophomore and Junior years of high school. I have continuously been on a club swim
team for the past nine years, most recently Rice Aquatics. For the past three summers, I have
participated in a club water polo team, Southside Honey Badgers. I love water polo because it
allows me to incorporate my swimming skills into a game. I am a Wing and Utility player; I am a
strong defensive player and work well under pressure. My academic strengths can be seen
through completion of rigorous coursework for Science, Math and English. I aspire to attend
medical school and become a Pediatric Physician after completing my undergraduate
coursework. I enjoy learning and challenging myself with everything I do, especially through
academics, water polo and swimming. My goals are to improve my offensive skills and
technique, advance to state for water polo next year, and continue to improve my swim times and
to challenge myself academically.

- The OC showcase will provide an opportunity to rising sophomores ('24), juniors ('23), and seniors ('22) to display their talents, academic transcripts, and test scores via a recruitment packet. The goal is to separately allow underclassmen the opportunity to be recognized by college programs well before their senior year. In addition, rising seniors will receive the chance to show off their talents in the water as well as meet the college coaches after the session.
