My name is Maya Mohebbizadeh, I am 16 years old and going into my senior year at
West High School, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
My mother is from Venezuela and my father is from Iran, resulting in my exposure to diversity. From a very young age I would travel to Spain and Venezuela to attend the last month of school. As I began to invest myself into learning Mandarin Chinese, I had the opportunity to go to China for several months a few summers and stay with host families. Having the opportunity to travel to these places has shaped who I am today and provided me with an extremely open perspective towards different cultures and helps me further appreciate the world we live in today.
I am very academically devoted, having maintained a 4.0 GPA, and am taking several AP and IB courses (transcript attached). I am fluent in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. I am very interested in International Relations programs, Political Science, and aspire to attend law school.
I have been playing water polo for over 8 years and would love to have the opportunity to play in college. I have attended ODP the past three years as part of the Mountain Zone Team, as well as JO’s with Utah/ Mountain Premier. I also trained at the Barcelona International Water polo Academy with Quim Colet, practiced with the Singapore National Team, and played with Cascais Water polo Club in
Portugal’s national tournament for 2 summers being National Champions both years in one of the categories. On a more recent note, I traveled to Hungary to train with the club team KSI and was invited to play with the Miami Riptides at the Sunshine State Tournament in Florida in U18 and Open categories.
I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
