Emma Merrill '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Emma Merrill, and I am now a senior at Big Bear High School. I currently wrestle at the 137-weight class while holding a 3.0 GPA. I started wrestling during seventh grade and instantly fell in love with the sport. While wrestling with the high school over the summer going into my freshman year, I earned my captain spot. I was also the only girl on my team for 3 years. My sophomore year I won second place in league and twelfth place in CIF (two spots from masters). My junior year I only got to wrestle a few matches because I injured my shoulder. So, while I was healing, I became an assistant coach for our boys team. I've also gotten the opportunity to coach other girls from different schools such as Polytechnic High School in Riverside, CA, and Riverside Prepatory High School in Oro Grande, CA. Now I am all healed up and ready to wrestle my senior year and in college. My goal is to wrestle at the next level and hopefully share the love that I have for this sport with others. I also have many years of experience in CrossFit which keeps me in shape during the offseason and in season.
