Wrestling is truly my passion in life, and that passion extends far beyond the mat. When I started wrestling in high school I was the only female wrestler in my school district. I completed two high school seasons training and competing with the Fairview boys team. After my sophomore season ended, I worked with athletic admin at my school and school district to build the Boulder Vally School Districts' first woman's wrestling team. I met resistance from athletic administration at first but I refused to take no for an answer. In the 2021-2022 season our team of nine had five wrestlers compete at regionals and four state qualifiers. Building a team is not easy and in our debut season, we faced many challenges. Several issues with transportation, funding, uniforms, and practice opportunities came up. I moved from the perspective of an athlete to the perspectives of parents, coaches, and athletic administration. We worked as a team to create a strong and successful team. Women's wrestling is growing exponentially in high school and in college. I want to bring my all to my university experience, both as an athlete and an advocate to build women's wrestling.
