I am Ilyana Sterrett a 5’5”, 155 pound passionate wrestler and multisport athlete! I started wrestling in my sophomore year. The moment I stepped on the mat I knew it was the place for me. I advanced to Regionals last year in my first year of wrestling. I was recognized with the Eagle award as the 2023 Gateway High School Winter Athlete.
Knowing that I'm capable of wrestling in college makes me more passionate for this sport. I am very coachable and very willing to learn new techniques and strategies whenever possible. I believe people learn from their mistakes and from failure and I incorporate that into my practices. I will wrestle anyone who is willing, in order to improve my versatility on the mat. In the classroom I strive to be part of the top of my class and help my peers whenever possible. When I have time outside of school and sports I spend my time at my part time job.
I hope to attend a school that is going to challenge me both academically and in competitions. I am open to all opportunities to compete in a higher level. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate impact on the team. I hope to make my coaches and parents proud with everything I am working towards.
