Amelia "means hard working" and the name truly fits me as an individual. I work hard in the classroom, on the wrestling mat, in the pool, on the court, as well as at work. In addition, I have worked on Mission trips and have been a member of the Student Council since Middle School. I have been active in athletics my entire life as it is a great outlet for energy and a chance to be competitive. My parent's encouraged me to explore as many activities ranging from gymnastics, dance, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country, track, to Taekwondo. I was a three sport athlete as a Freshman (Swimming, Basketball, Volleyball) and Lettered in Swimming. As a Sophomore, I continued Swimming and started Wrestling for the first time.
As a Junior, I wrestled and threw shot put for the Track Team. I have really enjoyed learning from my coaches and teammates in my second year Wrestling. It was a rewarding year despite some injury setbacks. I placed in all but one tournament I entered with the strongest finishes at the Clint Arliss Invitational Tournament, where I was the Runner-Up in the 130 lb weight class. Despite my best efforts this season, I fell shy of my goal to advance to the State Wrestling Tournament but I plan to use that as fuel to grow and be even better next year! I am participating in the off-season Wrestling program and most recently finished 4th at the IWCOA Girls Open and I plan to enter additional competitions this summer after the track season has reached its conclusion. Wrestling has been a great experience and for me and I look forward to continuing to grow in this sport in High School and hope to continue the sport in college.
