I started wrestling this season, as a junior in high school. Before this season, I was a statistician, and my dad is the head high school coach. After watching girls wrestle at Minnesota's first female state tournament last year I thought, "I can do that!". I am the only girl on our high school team, but hope to pave the way for more girls to join our team next year!
I am a very hard worker, and I don't back down from a challenge. I have learned a great amount in the short time I have been wrestling, and believe that I can become very good. I started the season slow, but I am becoming more successful and winning more matches as I figure out the skills, techniques, and strategies needed to be successful.
I am becoming better on my feet daily, working underhooks to high-c's and two-on-ones to sweep singles. I am able to escape from the bottom with inside stand ups. On top, I have a very strong power half, and have been working on improving my butcher/barbed wire for falls.
I am currently 20-9 against females this season, which includes wrestling at The Rumble on the Red in Fargo and Simley Girls Invite. Overall, I am 22-16, as I wrestle against boys on our JV high school team.
It never even crossed my mind that wrestling could be a gateway to college, but now that I realize that's a path, I am truly interested in pursuing it. I would like to wrestle and study pre-med in order to become a large animal vet. Currently I am in 4H and showed my heifer at the state fair last year, winning the purple ribbon for Merit.
I also want to share that my birth name is Alexia Rae Wentworth however I go by Alexia Timmerman, which is the last name of my step dad who has raised me since I was 6. When looking on Track I maybe listed as either Timmerman (all my hs stuff is under) and Wentworth (MN/USA wrestling events).
