I joined the wrestling team after my coach and best friend suggested it, highlighting my natural muscle. Little did I know that I would develop a passion for the sport over the months. I quickly got the hang of it within a few weeks, although I often needed help with specific moves, so my coach was always there to assist me. Surprisingly, I won my very first match against an opponent who weighed between 125 and 130 pounds, while I was only 120. After that match, I realized I would truly enjoy wrestling. Even though I experienced some losses, I always took a moment to catch my breath and was determined to try again. I kept my head high throughout the competition and returned the next day to practice what I needed to improve and work hard. My coaches frequently encouraged me, stating that I could go far if I continued participating in both track and wrestling. I took their words to heart and stayed motivated. Before every match, they made sure I felt ready and hyped up. My best friend and I partnered during practice, supporting each other. She was in her first year as well and shared valuable tips with me. She even placed first in the Districts, making every step worthwhile.
