I started wrestling freshman year of high school. Not because I saw it and knew that’s the sport for me. But because my mom thought i‘d never do it. So what started as a joke to prove my mom wrong, turned into one of the greatest decisions of my life. I never fit in with a single sport and I tried a lot of them. But wrestling wasn’t just a team sport it was solo as well. A contest between you and your competitor to see who was better. It’s dance and chess and everything I’ve been looking for to challenge myself and make me better. There’s nothing that beats the moment before the whistle from the ref and looking at your opponent and not thinking ”I can beat you” but “do I have the will to beat you”.
