Kate Crockett '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kate Crockett, and I am excited to share my journey as a dedicated athlete with a profound passion for wrestling. Wrestling and athletics in general have always been the main focus of my life. Over the years, I have competed in numerous sports, including Swim, Lacrosse, Soccer and Taekwondo. However, none of them have challenged me both physically and mentally quite like wrestling. Wrestling has given me a new sense of commitment and drive. I began my wrestling journey at the start of my freshman year where after the first competition I realized that wrestling was going to be my path. After not placing at the VHSL State tournament in my freshman year, I was able to work hard and come back and take 4th place during the competition my sophomore year. My commitment and dedication also created opportunities for me to compete in Fargo where I was competing side by side with Virginia's top wrestlers, and at Journeymen where I got the chance to compete against highly ranked world team members. These high level competitions enabled me to learn new techniques that I have since been able to incorporate in my wrestling. In any given opportunity I prioritize managing my time for wrestling while balancing my rigorous course load and my participation in school sponsored honors societies and independent community outreach opportunities such as non profits like Itzart and a program teaching Taiwanese kids English. I am a member of the National Honors Society and placed 1st in the district for DECA and will be competing at the State level this February. Wrestling has taught me that on days when motivation wanes, I must rely on discipline. I am interested in studying nutrition and exercise science in college. Wrestling aligns perfectly with my academic and athletic goals, allowing me to apply my knowledge of nutrition to enhance my performance. I hope to continue wrestling in college and be a part of a team, where I can further my commitment to the sport while improving with the support of my teammates and coaches.
