Hi my name is Chris Weaver. To tell you a little bit about me, I was adopted by my mom at age 8 after spending over five years in the foster care system in Alabama. I experienced many difficult times during those years. When my mom adopted me, she wanted to give me the opportunity to try any sport I was interested in. she had been a high school coach for over 15 years for girls volleyball, basketball, and softball. I played baseball call mom basketball, and soccer during my elementary school years. Then one day during my 7th grade year, a coach walked up to me and asked me if I would be interested in wrestling. That started my love for wrestling. I fractured my growth plate in my shoulder late in the season that year because I refuse to submit or quit during a match. I continue to improve during 8th grade year and ended the season as the metro champion in my weight class. I started as a varsity wrestler during my freshman season of high school and lost one match shy of qualifying for state that year. During my sophomore season I continue to improve, qualified for state and placed fourth. I had the same result at state during my junior season. This year during my senior season I was ranked as high as 2nd in the state in my weight class then my season was cut short just prior to state qualifying due to a dislocated elbow. I have since fully healed from that injury but have had an empty feeling from not getting to participate in the state tournament. A college in Kansas has recently shown interest in me for wrestling and that made me realize how much I missed the sport and needed to get my name out there to see if any other opportunities might be available. My mom is a single parent and would love for her to be able to see me wrestle in college. I do not think any school that gives me the opportunity to wrestle for them will be disappointed with my effort and commitment. I give 100% in every match and I am known for having outstanding sportsmanship. Give me a chance and you won’t be disappointed!
