My college goals are to create connections that will open doors for my future career, including starting my own business. I want to take a variety of subjects in order to explore what interests me. I want a career that makes me feel happy, rather than something I have to do. I want to be a part of a community with new people and an environment that opens my mind to new ideas and possibilities.
I am an excellent candidate for you team because I train hard and never give up. I am easy to mold and I listen to my coaches. I get along well with my teammates and mentor other wrestlers.
Going to State helped me finally figure out my head game. This is what sets me apart from other candidates, because the outcome of the match is almost always pre-determined by the mindset of wrestlers. It was a huge deal for me to find that winning mindset because my mind had been telling me that I had only gotten lucky to get to State and that I wasn't as good as the other qualifiers.
I had to defeat my doubting mind before I could defeat my opponents. When my opponent who was ranked 9th had me on my back, I had a victorious mind set when I was able to get out of that and get him on his back. I didn't end up winning that match, but I was surprised when I won 3 and lost 2, never getting pinned by the best wrestlers in California. When I placed 16th in State, I realized that I had won the battle with my mind that I have fought my entire wrestling career.
