Personal Statement

My name is Hayden Tyler Ancheta and I am a rising senior at Monta Vista High School and train at Sunnyvale Wrestling Club. Having been on the California Freestyle and Greco Team at Fargo Nationals and beating a returning Junior All-American this year, I am confident going into my senior year I can make noise in my state and in the country. Of course, while committing myself to Wrestling, I have kept my grades up at Monta Vista High School. Additionally, I have successfully multi-tasked wrestling in addition to my other extra-curricular activities.

  • 1/27/22 to 1/27/22
  • I beat the #1 in SCVAL League, #2 in CCS, and #31 in the state, in a back and forth match, 7-6. Going into this match, I really focused on my constantly improving mental game using a few tips given to me by an SFSU wrestler. I never felt more mentally ready in my entire wrestling career. Wrestling-wise, I learned from my past mistakes at MidCals and was able to capitalize in positions I would've previously gotten scored in.
  • Camp/Event
  • 13th Annual Apple Cider Varsity Tournamnet

  • Jason Welch 2021 Black Sheep Summer Wrestling Camp
  • 8/02/21 to 8/05/21
  • This was a technique camp ran by 3x CA state champion, NCAA finalist, Jason Welch. I think this was probably my favorite camp as the technique shown, I was able to pick up really quickly, and Welch's wrestling style was fun to learn. I was personally able to record all the technique shown, and have it organized in an album for further use.

  • (SCVAL) Santa Clara Valley Athletic JV League Finals
  • 2/08/20 to 2/08/20

  • 4th place 2-2 record (freshman year) (was around 97 lbs wrestling 106)
  • Camp/Event
  • 2019 Black Sheep Wrestling Camps
  • 6/24/19 to 6/27/21
  • This camp was the first ever camp I attended back in 2019, as it was my first year wrestling. I was, and still am, in love with the sport and wanted to get better.

Training

  • I started my daily training 2 days after lockdown/quarantine was announced in 2020.
  • 2 years
  • When I am writing this, the date is 8/12/21, and I have maintained my daily training routine which consists of lifting, cardio, and wrestling. I have not missed a day since then, besides one break I took when I was sick. Currently 425 days into this training lifestyle, which is around 1 1/2 years where I have consistently stayed active and trained everyday(besides Sundays; rest day). You can see this journey on my Instagram where I consistently post the day and what I am doing.
