College is a wondrous place of learning, growth and knowledge. During my time there I aspire to do what I love learning, and wrestling. Since middle school, and throughout my school career I knew what interested me was a major in an area of Humanities, be it linguistics, foreign languages, or social sciences. However, in my free time I have pursued subjects such as philosophy, and logic. Also, I recently was enrolled in AP Statistics, with that I found I have a knack and enjoy statistics as well. I find that these college course caliber classes help to motivate me, and strengthen my skills for college.
Athleticism, is something that was never easy for me, I struggled with my weight all the way through the 7th grade, until I lost weight, and still my size beckoned me to play football, which is a great sport. I played all four years of high school as a lineman. But, above all when I discovered wrestling it was amazing. My football coach, who also happened to be the head wrestling coach at River City High school was the one who introduced me to wrestling, and he encouraged me to stick with it. It was hard at first, and at the time my wrestling partner, and our 220 was a seven year veteran and master’s qualifier. So, he would show me the ropes and help me out. And would encourage me not to quit, and my first year helped me finish all the runs and conditioning. But after a while, and a lot dedicated practice I improved. Jones our 220 was a mentor to me, and taught that when its practice being serious, and focused on moves is the best way to improve. And being one of the few seniors on the team I strive to instill the same focus, and seriousness in practice. Then, my junior year was the year I made improvement. I still made it to Divisionals despite just coming off a stomach flu a few days before the league tournament. That was hard but, it taught me you must always be ready to wrestle, and having pain is just a part of the sport. This by far was a solid year for me, I had always wanted the opportunity to wrestle in Masters, and when I placed in Divsionals it was a dream come true. I look forward to have an opportunity to wrestle at the next level, use the lessons wrestling has taught me, and to have hard work and dedication take me far in life.
