I began wrestling a little later than some of my peers, when I was ten years old. Many of the kids at my club had been wrestling since they were in preschool, but I knew with hard work that I could compete with them. Within two years, I had won my first National Championship. I learned early on that hard work is rewarded both on and off the mat.
I learned the values of hard work from working on our family ranch in Beulah, Colorado. Long days of hard work in extreme weather has taught me to be resilient, resourceful, and responsible. On the ranch there is no time clock and the job isn't finished until it is finished, no matter how long it takes.
I have taken those lessons and applied them in the classroom as well. I have consistently been an honor roll student and was selected by the teachers and faculty as Student of the Year at my previous school. Currently, I attend Global Sports Academy, a wrestling immersion high school, where I not only focus on academics, but also spend every day practicing my wrestling skills, weight training, and learning about proper nutrition.
In addition to wrestling and academics, my hard work has also made me successful in other areas. I have played football for 7 years, were I was the starting quarterback and team captain. I am a member of 4H and show beef cattle at the county and state fairs. I have been either Grand or Reserve Champion every year since I was 8 yrs old. Recently I started competing in bass fishing tournaments. I quickly became the Colorado State Champion and qualified for and competed at the TBF Junior World Championships in 2018.
Overall, my parents have always taught me that whatever my task is, I must work at it with all my heart. Winning is great, but a person’s character is what will stay with them throughout their life. By doing my best with every opportunity that God gives me, I know I am living my life to my fullest potential and with great character. If your college is looking for a high character, hardworking student athlete, that is ready to excel both on the mat and in the classroom, please contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
