My Wrestling Journey
I first started wrestling my freshman year of high school. I joined the sport because I thought it was interesting and soon enough I grew to love the sport. Wrestling is not like many sports and takes a lot of hard work and dedication if you want to be the best. I've had my highs and lows in my career of wrestling and I can say I wouldn't change it for anything in the world. I first started wrestling in Virginia during my freshman year. Starting off, it was something that I had to get used too. With lots of practice and hard work I ended up becoming the District Champion freshman and sophomore year. I had placed 6th at regionals but didn't get to go to states. Eventually I had to move to Georgia because I'm part of a military family. The school that I went to luckily had wrestling. That's when I began my third year of wrestling. Due to Corona wrestling had its highs and lows but I made it through. I worked harder than ever when I moved and eventually placed 1st in my area. This meant that I had finally had the opportunity to go to states. It was rough and there were very skilled people but I didn't give up even if I lost. I place 7th in the state which is a great accomplishment for me having not gone my first two year. I've now been wrestling for 3 years and it has been a wonderful experience wrestling. I like to give 100% of myself in practice and when I have matches against other schools. I want to be able to prove to others that I have what it takes to be the best. Wrestling has taught me to always try your best, to push yourself, and to stay determined no matter what happens. Wrestling has changed my life and I wouldn't be the person I am today without it. I hope to accomplish more in my final years of wrestling in high school.
