Personal Statement

My name is Cole Erickson and I have been wrestling since I was 5 years old. I am a senior at Mediapolis High School in Mediapolis, Iowa. My passion for wrestling definitely came from my father who was the first State Champion at the High School that I now attend.

My short term goals include improving my state placing from my Freshman Year (4th Place), Sophomore Year (2nd Place), Junior Year (4th Place) and finishing my High School career as a 4x State Placer with a State Championship Title as a Senior.

My long term goals include being a starting wrestler for a college with an extremely strong wrestling program and the same work ethic and values that were instilled in me growing up on our family farm. I have a strong faith, sheer determination, a will to succeed, and will always give 110% to reach my goals. I want to be the best that I can be, and I know a college with a strong program can help me build on my existing capabilities which will assist me in obtaining my dreams of becoming an NCAA Champion.

As a career goal, I aspire to major in either Business Management / Finance or Engineering.

I believe that I have been given a lot of opportunities throughout my years in wrestling and it is my personal goal to continue to give back to the local clubs and community who supported me throughout the years by possibly coaching my own youth club team someday.

Competed in the 2014 Northern Plains Regional Freestyle Qualifier at 160. Went 6-1, losing to the eventual champion in the quarterfinals, taking 3rd and qualifying for the 2014 Fargo Nationals. Competed at 2014 Fargo Nationals at 152, going 6-2.
