My dreams originate from a small, rural, Kansas town. However, my parents have taught me to look beyond our small community. Through athletic and cultural events, my parents exposed me early on to a much larger world outside of Mound City. At home and while we traveled to places like Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa, Utah, South Dakota, Colorado, New York, and even parts of Europe, my parents instilled upon me that in order to be the best, I have to surround myself with the best. I have carried this mentality in my daily life. I continuously strive to make a positive contribution wherever I am. In my work and in my play, I have been expected to give my best, and have grown to expect that from myself, too.
I take pride in establishing goals and obtaining them. I lead by example and inspire other students to achieve academic and athletic success. For myself, achieving academic success with a 4.0, while being an active member within the school and community, is a psychologically inspiring experience that can never be matched by money or popularity. Participating in wrestling since I was four and baseball since I was 12 has allowed me, to provide guidance and lead our high school teams to victory. I practice like I play, giving 110%. My contribution and work ethic encourage other athletes to excel. I am motivated by success and winning, yet success does not always come easy. I will also work to meet the needs of the team. I will not always be the leader and may not always win on the wrestling mat, but I know the sport of wrestling will provide a winning opportunity for me.
