Hello, my name is Connor Livingston. I am finishing up my junior year of high school at Manchester Valley High School, Manchester, MD. I plan to graduate and continue my education in 2020. My wrestling career began in my freshman year of high school after my football coach, also wrestling coach, told me to try it, you'll like it. At that time I had not thought of myself as a wrestler. However, after a few practices, I think I was hooked. Though only a freshman and never wrestled before my freshman year, I was placed as Varsity starter 197 lbs. Can I just say that yes, I was pushed, shoved, dropped and beaten for what felt like the entire season. I did mange to pull a few wins. However, with the assurance of my coaches, my hard work and dedication and help from my family, I was determined that I was going to do this and I was going to eventually come out ahead.
My second year as a sophmore, I was placed back into the Varsity starter line 197 lb. As my confidence grew that year, and I was able to find a great outside wrestling academy to assist (4x All American) Steve Fittery/FITS Academy, I improved. I saw myself persevering and gaining more confidence and knowledge of the sport. Did I win all, of course not, but I found myself living and breathing wrestling. My goal as a junior was to make it to Regionals. Now, my junior year of high school, Varsity starter, not only did I meet my goal to make it to Regionals, I took 4th place at Regionals placing myself as a MD State qualifier. I had to wrestle off my teammates to hold my 197 position. However, I have also wrestled up 220 and wrestled 184. This past year has proved that hard work and dedication, compassion, faith and reassurance of family and friends, anything is possible. I am still an avid football player, playing the line. I play both sports going right from one to the other. Overlapping during the spring and summer months as I practice off-season wrestling and gearing up for early football practice.
I have been playing football since recreation days prior to high school. I play offensive/defensive line and am typically a starter on the Varsity team. I practice hard and begin football early in the summer while also getting in my off-season wrestling and in the weight room. I am a team player and I am passionate of both football and wrestling. If I could play both sports in college, I would.
I think of myself as very dedicated, compassionate and hard working. I always strive to do my best, not only on the mat/field, but off. Academics have always been very important, and needed the most to succeed in this crazy world. I have been able to maintain a weighted/GPA of 4.27 while taking AP and Honor courses since my freshman year and middle school. I am a member of the National Honor Society and football lead. I am looking for higher education in pursuit of a BioChemistry major. Therefore, finding a school that can offer a great academic program and where I can actually participate in a sport that I enjoy is my goal, while navigating my next chapter after high school.
I want to thank you, in advance, for taking the time to read my bio and considering me for a future position on your team.
Regards,
Connor Livingston
