My name is Mark A. Rodgers Jr. I am a student athlete at North Point High School with excellent study habits and a cumulative GPA of 3.8. I consider myself a very easy-going person but know when to maintain a serious attitude when I need to get things done. A few things that bring me joy are God and my faith, family, and friends. When I’m not studying, wrestling, or working, you can find me playing the occasional video game, and chopping wood and hunting with my dad. I come from a family of four which include my parents and little sister, but I do have a hand full of friends that I consider brothers. I’ve been wrestling since 6thgrade. I started out with Southern Maryland Wolfpack under Coach Jason Gabrielson. I’m currently a varsity wrestler with North Point High School under Coach Willie Leonard. I did some track & field during middle school and made it to the Junior Olympics running 1500-meter race. I was also a Varsity Cross Country runner at North Point.
My first goal is to obtain a wrestling and/or academic scholarship to attend college. Once I accomplish that goal, my next dual goal is to get a four-year degree in General Business while working my way up the ladder on the mat. I plan on maintaining good grades while wrestling as I’ve always done. After college a possible goal is to enter the military.
I feel I’m a good candidate and different from others because I am a leader on and off the mat. I’m currently the Captain of my wrestling team. I took 3rdin our region and 8thin the state in the 2018-2019 season. I’ve maintained a 3.8-4.1 GPA quarterly. I’m in the processes of taking dual enrollment college courses. I enrolled in Carpentry in an out of zone STI/CTE school to get an early start on my career path. What sets me apart from others is my ability to maintain good time management skills. I learned early on that spreading things out but also working ahead can bring great success. I am a great candidate for any team because I lead by example, I have a strong work ethic, I’m reliable, and I’m motivated to give my 100% at all times.
Respectfully,
Mark Rodgers Jr.
