Malachi Johnson '20 Recruiting Profile

 I started wrestling my freshman year because one of my football coaches encouraged me to come out for the wrestling team.  During my freshman year I competed mostly on the JV team since I was new to the sport and learning the fundamentals. I decided that I wanted to make my goal to win state after watching the state tournament my freshman year.   During the offseason I made time for myself to work on the mat and practiced all summer. When my sophomore year came I could see firsthand that my hard work paid off and my coaches acknowledged my improvement also. I was varsity the entire season going 19-21 and placing 5th at Sections.  I still haven't achieved my goal of winning state but I am working as hard as I can to achieve this goal. I am going to the 14 day J. Robinson intensive wrestling camp and I am also trying to make the Minnesota National Team in order to wrestle in the national freestyle/greco tournament in Fargo.
