Mathew Sloan '22 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to compete at the next level and to keep building my character through my college career.  I would be an asset to your team for many reasons:  

First, I am a leader on and off the mat.  I am hard working even when faced with adversity.  My positive attitude is not just for me, but for my team.  I am uniquely quiet for a leader but bring a lot of energy.  If you are looking for someone to be a positive leader amongst his peers, that is me. 

Second, I am driven in the classroom.  I would not say school has come easy to me; however, I am confident enough to ask questions when needed.  I have always believed, I am probably not the only one needing clarity.  It is also my goal to be the first in my family to receive a Bachelor's Degree.  

Finally, I am prepared for the balance needed to be a collegiate athlete.  I am a three sport athlete who works part-time, maintains an acceptable GPA and sustains relationships with family and friends.  There is no question, college will be a new challenge; I have never backed away from a challenge.  I have given a lot of thought to what it will mean to be a collegiate athlete.  Though, I have been trained to keep moving to the next level, it is important you know I would not join your program just because it is what I am "supposed" to do.  I would join your team ready to be a leader, ready to learn on and off the mat, and prepared to balance all that will come my way.
