"Hardest worker in the room" ... that is what I strive for each day, and that is what would make me a good candidate for your wresting team. Since Freshman year, I have worked extremely hard to grow both on and off the mat to achieve my ultimate goal -- to wrestle in college. With very little wrestling experience going into High School, I knew I was at a disadvantage and would have to work extra hard to achieve this goal. Freshman year, I was named "Freshman Wrestler of the Year." That off season, I sought out as much time on the mat as I could, sometimes driving 30+ miles, 4-5 times per week. Sophomore year, I made my goal of making the Varsity team, and ended with a 16-24 record. This drove me even harder in the off season, both on the mat and in the weight room. Junior year, I was 34-8, made it to Sectionals, and was named "Most Improved Wrestler." I was also named Captain of the team for my Senior year. What's next? I WILL medal at the Missouri Class 4 State Tournament this year.
Wrestling has driven me in more ways than I could have imagined. In the classroom, I had a rocky start to High School, but like with wrestling, I have worked extremely hard to bring up my GPA, earning a 3.6 GPA my Junior year and bringing my cumulative GPA to a 2.92. I WILL have an overall cumulative GPA above a 3.0 after my first semester of my Senior year. Junior year, I also earned the "Winners Circle Award," which is a selective award given to students for showing character and integrity. Teachers are only allowed to choose one student the entire year, so I was honored and humbled that I was selected.
I want to find a college team where I can apply this hard work and perseverance to achieve great things for both the team and myself.
