When I started wrestling in my freshman year, I had no clue on what or how the sport worked at all. In my first tournament, the Newcomers JV tournament, I didn't place, but it offered me a tremendous experience. The loss inspired me to do work vigorously to fix that loss. Initially, freshman year felt relentless. As I continued to train, I was offered opportunities to compete at a higher-level, but with these opportunities, came along sacrifices. I was insistent especially during my injuries, training, and practices. My coach, Frederick Meyer, offered me the chance to wrestle at a varsity dual meet against Clark, after seeing me improve significantly in just a few weeks. Sadly, I was defeated by a mistake I made. At first, I felt upset, but that emotion soon turned to a hunger for more. Even though my JV season ended before the varsity's, I still came to the practices. Despite being the only JV wrestler, I wanted to wrestle. I wasn't going to Regionals or State, but I wanted to improve. Soon, it only ended up being a few guys that made it to State and me. I started to see less errors in my skill set, and performed the moves, with little to no mistake.
After my freshman year of 2018-2019, I learned so much. I acquired the importance of commitment, sacrifices, and hard work. During the summer before my sophomore year, I had a lust for training til I was burnt out. I also visited camps and trained as if I was being scouted. I knew every minute mattered in progressing towards a win, medal, and trophy. This year was going to be my first year on a varsity position, and I knew I need to work deliver astounding progress to show I belong on the team. During my sophomore season of 2019-2020, I performed fairly in my varsity matches winning 10 out of the 18 varsity matches I wrestled in. I made the choice to wrestle in the Clark JV Regional Tournament, and I placed first among my weight class. This showed I did so much better, and I had the potential to compete at higher levels. However, I didn't get the opportunity to wrestle at regionals, despite being a week after the JV tournament I wrestled in. Despite the current circumstances the world faces today, I been pushing and driving myself to work harder in the form of calisthenics and bodyweight exercises. I know this season will be strange, but that doesn't change my drive for competing at high levels. I want to perform at an outstanding level, and prove it at the collegiate level. I am looking for a school, who will drive me to my core, challenge me in all forms, and mold me to be an exceptional athlete.
