Gavin Duran '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Gavin Duran. I am currently a Junior this year at Ridge High school NJ, wrestling at 132 lbs. I am currently one of the captains for the Varsity team. Currently I am the Somerset County Champion at 132 lbs.

I wrestled for varsity for the past two years at 132 and 126 lbs. I want to wrestle at the next level and look to get into a college that will help me succeed in my wrestling career and academically. My academic goal is to get a finance degree. I ultimately would like to work in the finance business. I desire to set these goals and achieve them. I am motivated to work as hard as possible to reach them. Not only am I striving to set goals and to achieve them, I also want to help my teammates get theirs as well. Being a captain this year has taught me to lead by example. My other teammates look up to me and see how much work I put in and conduct myself on and off the mat. 

Hard work, discipline, and dedication are three traits that wrestling has taught me and these traits are why I love the sport of wrestling so much. The 2022-23 season, I wrestled 132 and 126 finishing with a record of 34-9. Taking 1st in districts, and 3rd in regions placing myself into the NJSIAA state tournament in Atlantic City. I am different from other recruits because wrestling is a way of life for me. I work on and off the mat trying to improve my wrestling technique.
