I started wrestling in 6th grade, but didn't truly fall in love with the sport until 8th. As a heavyweight, my freshman year was pretty rough but I put the work in and qualified for Districts my sophomore year. As a junior, I lost only 1 regular season match (20-1), but missed several meets due to COVID and quarantines. I was Sectional HWT Champ, and missed placing at Districts by only one match, falling short of my goal of qualifying for State. Wrestling is a difficult sport, both mentally and physically, and it has taught me the value of hard work, dedication, and how to deal with adversity. I have another year of high school and I plan to qualify for and place at the state tournament as a senior.
