Coach, I'd first like to thank you for taking the time to view my profile and read my personal statement. Wrestling is my passion. I have been wrestling since I was 5, and I have had a long journey with the sport. As I have matured into a young man, I have come to realize that getting to compete and win is my drive. The thought of getting to put on a singlet, headgear, a knee-pad, wrestling shoes, and getting to wrestle a good match in front of my teammates, coaches, friends, and family is what motivates me through every practice. I am interested in wrestling in college because I want to learn more about the sport of wrestling, and I want to compete at the highest level. I would bring a hardworking attitude to your program, with an intense drive to succeed, on the mat and in the classroom. I have a great attention to detail during instruction, and I ask questions to help improve my understanding, and my teammates understanding, of the sport. I display leadership in the practice room, and in the classroom. I hold myself to high standards, and work hard to achieve my goals. My goal as a college student-athlete is to graduate with a bright future ahead of myself, and to become the ultimate version of myself on the mat. I hope by the end of my time as a college student-athlete, I will have reached new heights for a program, built lifelong relationships, secured a bright future for myself, and increased my knowledge about wrestling. Ultimately, I dream of one day being a coach as well, and pass on my knowledge to a future generation of student-athletes. Thank you for reading my personal statement, and I hope we can have a conversation about your program in the near future.
