I went to my first wrestling practice when I was in 5th grade and that's when it all started, but I never really got into wrestling until the 7th grade. Ever since, it has always been a big goal of mine to wrestle at the collegiate level. I started wrestling in California but didn't start my high school career until we moved to Texas. Freshman year I was the Co-captain, but my Sophomore and Junior year I have been the head captain and I take pride in that, on and off the mat. It is my work ethic and leadership abilities that have landed those spots. I love to give back to the community and volunteer for all sorts of things whether it is helping out with the local boy scouts, Special Olympics, youth wresting or whatever way I can give back.
I always push myself whether it is on the mat, in the classroom, or in conditioning and weight training. If you would ask any of my wrestling coaches or school teachers, they would attest to my work ethic. One of my most admirable traits is and always has been my work ethic. I try to pass that characteristic on to fellow wrestlers and team mates. I have been very lucky to attend many different wrestling camps around the country and even some internationally and I am always eager to learn from other coaches and wrestlers to learn other styles and moves to ultimately figure out what works for me.
My academic goals are always to achieve the highest grades possible. For me, at times I find my competitive self working harder in the classroom to get a higher grade than someone around me, which is exactly how I wrestle. I want to win and be a strong competitor. This is what I strive for in high school and look forward to continuing those same principals onto the collegiate level.
I am interested in finding a college that I can thrive in the classroom and on the wrestling mat. I believe that I would be an exceptional addition to any program and bring value with my abilities, my drive, work ethic and attitude. I will continue to learn and grow from those around me, work hard and with that, I hope to find a collegiate program that I can provide value and be an asset to.
