Once I graduate high school with my associates I wish to transfer my goal is to get into a university where can both compete on their wrestling team, and kick off my studies in mechanical engineering. Ever since I was in elementary I loved to breakdown things and build them back up differently. Planes are what really caught my eye, the sight of them soaring through sky made them seem untouchable. Around 6th grade is when I started to feel energetic all the time as if I had and extra engine pumping my heart. I’m a bit on the aggressive side and to get rid of my energy and calm me down my mother enrolled me into youth football. This is where I got my first experience of working out. Although I wasn’t good at the sport I enjoyed being able to run at someone and tackling them down. I wasn’t able to take everyone on and was losing battles one after another so I decided to do anything to get bigger and stronger. I ate more and started to do push-ups every morning and night. I soon joined the the football team for my middle school I’m gradually losing interest in the sport but a part of me still loves the physical hitting aspect, so I keep going all the way to high school. I’m weighing around 220 and was just on the team to get stronger. My sophomore year hits and COVID-19 comes I’m weighing 215 benching 205 and squatting 250 I wasn’t happy about any of my numbers. Coach Sands finds me after a football practice and easily convinced me to wrestle. I went to a couple practices and found a love hate relationship with them. The practices were always rough and the team was little at the time because of COVID so I didn’t really have a specific person to relate with since everyone was much smaller than me. I hated the fact that whenever we ran I would get lapped so many times even though I would be trying my hardest. But I loved that each week I would soon not get lapped as much which led to me eventually keeping up with them. The progression from hard work shows that is what I learned from this sport. That is what I became addicted to. It’s the fact that I know that if I work hard I will get better in some way or form. This mentality persevered in the classroom. I made it to the top 10% of my class while pursuing my associates.
