I am interested in wrestling because it allows me to challenge myself and be competitive with others as well. I like that it is both a team and an individual sport. Wrestling gives me a way to release energy in a positive way. I like that it allows me to stay in good physical shape and teaches me mental skills that I am able to carry with me throughout my life.
I have been wrestling since 3rd grade. Since then, I had two years that I wrestled undefeated. It isn't uncommon for me to change weights to challenge a better wrestler or get better matches. In 6th and 8th grade, I was given the Most Outstanding Wrestler award for our club. In 7th grade, I was given the Most Dedicated Wrestler for our club. As a 9th grader, I was a Montana State Qualifier for 170 lb weight class.
In 8th grade, I realized just how big wrestling could be. My first big tournament was the Montana Open in Billings, Montana. It motivated me to work harder and push myself further. I am looking forward to continuing to improve my skills, talents and mindset as I move forward in wrestling.
